The Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League have announced several roster updates, including the signing of four players from Sault Ste. Marie, ON., and a college commitment for a veteran forward.

Four players from the Ontario side of the border are ready for the upcoming season. The group includes two returning players and two rookies:

  • Liam Watson: A 2008-born defenceman, Watson is a North Bay Battalion draft pick who is expected to return mid-season after recovering from surgery. He had an impressive rookie season in ’24-’25, with 20 points in 33 games.
  • Coulson Bell: A 2007-born forward, Bell returns after a rookie campaign where he produced 13 points in 41 regular-season games.
  • Carter Huckson: A 2007-born forward, Huckson joins the team as a rookie after playing for the AAA Under 18 Soo Indians. He had 37 points in 59 games last season and also played as an affiliate with the Eagles.
  • Colton Huckson: Carter’s younger brother, this 2008-born defenceman also comes from the AAA U18 Soo Indians, where he recorded 27 points in 59 games. He also had an assist in four games as an affiliate player with the Eagles.

Eagles’ general manager Bruno Bragagnolo praised Bell’s potential in a recent interview with Randy Russon and the NOJHL, for improvement and highlighted the hard work and good attitudes of the Huckson brothers, hoping their “compete level rubs off on some of our other new players.”

Drew Dellies commits to College

In other news, forward Drew Dellies has committed to Anna Maria College in Massachusetts to play NCAA Division III hockey. The 20-year-old from Marquette, Michigan, played parts of three seasons with the Eagles.

His best season came in ’24-’25, where he set career highs with 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 45 games.

General Manager Bruno Bragagnolo described Dellies as a player with an “unmatched work ethic and drive” whose “tenacity and heart made him popular with our fans.” Dellies credited his time with the Eagles—including his teammates, coaches, and billet family—for helping him achieve his goal of playing college hockey.

He is the sixth player from the team’s ’24-’25 season to commit to a college program.
