The Greater Sudbury Cubs are once again NOJHL champions after a thrilling 6-4 victory over the Hearst Lumberjacks in Game 7 Wednesday night at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.

Fuelled by a four-point performance from Nolan Newton and a two-goal effort from Daks Klinkhammer, the Cubs held off a relentless Hearst squad to secure their second straight Copeland Cup – McNamara Trophy.

Greater Sudbury stormed out to a 5-2 lead midway through the game before Hearst mounted a late push, narrowing the gap to one in the third. A late empty-netter from Klinkhammer sealed the win in front of a packed home crowd.

Goaltender Karsen Chartier made 32 saves for the Cubs, who also got goals from Noah Kohan, Cameron Shanks, Spencer Horgan and Alexandre Valade.

The Cubs will now represent the NOJHL at the 2025 Centennial Cup, running May 8–18 at Calgary’s Max Bell Centre.
