The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) has announced its 2025-26 regular season schedule, featuring an 11-team, one-division format with each club playing a 52-game slate.
The season kicks off on Thursday, September 11, with the two-time NOJHL champion Greater Sudbury Cubs hosting the Timmins Rock. The regular season is set to conclude on Sunday, March 15.
Each team will play 25 home and 25 away games, plus two additional matchups at the annual NOJHL Showcase, scheduled for October 7-8 at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex in Sudbury. The Showcase schedule will be released at a later date.
Games tied after regulation will proceed to a seven-minute, three-on-three sudden-victory overtime period. If no winner is decided in overtime, the game will end in a tie, with each team earning one point. Teams will still receive two points for regulation and overtime wins, and one point for overtime losses.
The Elliot Lake Vikings will remain on a leave of absence due to ongoing repairs at their venue, Rogers Arena. Following the regular season, the Top 8 teams will advance to the playoffs, with the eventual league champion representing the NOJHL at the 2026 Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons. All NOJHL games will be streamed online via FLOHockey.tv.

In other league news, two-time defending champion Greater Sudbury Cubs announced defenceman Michael MacLean has committed to the University of Guelph to continue his hockey career with the Gryphons’ men’s program this fall. The 20-year-old from Manotick, Ontario, joined the Cubs in early January and made a significant impact, recording nine points (four goals, five assists) in 15 regular-season games, including a game-winning goal. He also contributed eight points (three goals, five assists) during Greater Sudbury’s run to the NOJHL title and an assist in five Centennial Cup outings.

Cubs head coach Darryl Moxam, who was named NOJHL coach of the year, praised MacLean’s immediate positive impact on and off the ice. “After joining us at the trade deadline, Michael immediately made a positive impact, both on the ice, and in the dressing room,” stated Moxam.
“He was an integral part to the success of our program this past season and we’re incredibly proud that he gets to continue his development with the Gryphons, and in the classroom at the University of Guelph.”
Prior to his time with Greater Sudbury, MacLean played parts of two seasons with the Powassan Voodoos, tallying five goals and 12 assists in 42 games.
The University of Guelph Gryphons compete in the 10-school West Conference of Ontario University Athletics as members of U SPORTS.
