The hockey season is just around the corner, and teams are busy with player announcements. Both the Soo Thunderbirds and the Greater Sudbury Cubs have been making moves to bolster their rosters.
The Soo Thunderbirds have announced two new signings: forward Rhys Bonvie and right winger Landon Hill. Bonvie, a 6’1″, 195-pound right winger, joins the team from Smith Falls, where he played for the Jr. A and B Bears last season. Thunderbirds GM Jamie Henderson noted Bonvie’s “infectious” enthusiasm and expects him to be a leader for the team.

Also joining the Thunderbirds is 2007-born right winger Landon Hill. Last season, Hill finished fourth in team scoring with 40 points in 59 games. Henderson described him as a “skilled, speedy forward” who can create scoring opportunities and be a factor on the forecheck.
Meanwhile, the Greater Sudbury Cubs are celebrating the return of a “dynamic trio” for the upcoming season. Forward Lucas “The Hammer” Antonioni is back for his second year, ready to bring his power to the forward lines. He’s joined by veteran defenceman Brady Bouchard, who is lacing up for his final junior hockey season. Also returning for his second season is Jacob Signoretti.
The Cubs have also announced the signing of 2009-born forward Ty Dubreuil. Dubreuil, who comes from the North Bay Trappers U16 AAA program, was recently selected by the Windsor Spitfires in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection. The team is excited to see him hit the ice this fall.
