It was announced today that the Mississauga Steelheads have the day off due to COVID-19 protocols.
The Ontario Hockey League announced today that it is postponing the game between the Steelheads and Peterborough Petes that was scheduled for 7:00pm (December 4). This game will be made up at a later date.
The League released a statement that, in short, said, “(The Ontario Hockey League) will provide an update on the matter as more information becomes available”.
The Peterborough Petes played Thursday night without three of their forwards: Jax Dubois, Justin DeZoete and Cole Patey. According to the Peterborough Examiner they were, “ill with non-COVID related illnesses.”
In the same division as the Steelheads, the Sudbury Wolves continue to have a halt of operations due to 12 players having tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. It is still too early to say when the Wolves will return to regular season play, but word from around the organization is that all players are reportedly doing well and are experiencing mild symptoms if they aren’t asymptomatic.
The team is working closely with Public Health Sudbury and Districts, along with anyone who may have come in contact with the team.
